Dahlia is genetically prone to arthritis. Her condition was made worse by an injury. One winter day, she broke away from me to chase an animal and slipped and fell on the ice. She has never been the same since.
I am disabled. I live with my adult daughter who is also disabled. We both make it work with what little we have on disability payments. Dahlia was abandoned at my house by someone I thought was a friend. I would not willingly have gotten an animal knowing my financial situation but she had already been abandoned once. I could not bear to have it done to her a second time.
