Frankie’s Friends Bond’s Fund helped Minka receive the treatment and care she needed for an enucleation of her left eye. This is a note from her family.

Thank you to the kind and compassionate donors, whose support to the Bond’s Fund, allows animals to get the treatment they need. I adopted a giant schnauzer rescue several years ago who I named Minka. When I got her, she was severely underweight, had an ear infection, and had a permanently disfigured ear from a previously untreated hematoma. Her ear infections continued to reoccur and with ongoing veterinary care, I am happy to say that she has been free of ear infections for a year. She was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2018 and is doing well on Levothyroxine.

On December 31, 2019, I took her to the emergency veterinarian for what I originally thought was debris in her eye that did not seem to improve after a saline wash and eye medicine. They diagnosed her with irreversible loss of vision due to an intraocular mass with secondary obstructive glaucoma and anterior uveitis. They recommend enucleation of her left eye (eye removal).

I nursed Minka back to good health when I adopted her. I love her dearly. She is a sweet girl, loving and kind. I constantly receive compliments about her every time we go to the park – she’s a beauty. Besides the urgent eye diagnosis, she is in excellent health and has many years ahead of her. I cannot imagine my life without her. Thank you so very much for your kindness and generosity for the amazing creatures we have as companions.
