Frankie’s Friends National Fund helped Rue receive lifesaving surgery for removal of an infected growth on her leg. This is a note from Rue’s family.

I want to thank everyone for their support of Little Miss Rue and I.

In 2019 I sustained a significant trauma brain injury and was placed on medical leave in October 2019. By August of 2020 the social isolation from being off work and restriction from COVID was getting to me. I thought to myself, “Your heart is healed. It’s time to get another dog.”

The statistical chances Rue and I would ever meet were small. Rue was in Mexico, homeless, emaciated, and nursing three pups who had mange. Once brought to the U.S. the rescue had a hard time adopting her due her to fear aggression. I have a history of rehabilitation traumatized dogs, and assessed her behavior as something I could work with. After all the rehabilitation I had been through with my injury I thought working on training a dog would be good for my brain and emotions, and of course her company being of most value. I am please to share Rue is doing great with humans. She has gotten substantially better with dogs and wild birds. Squirrels and cats remain her nemesis, but we are working on that.

Unfortunately, it was discovered Rue had an injury from her Mexico days. She had a foreign body that is infected in her leg. It had that had a drainage path that lead to ta growth. When I found out the rescue knew and didn’t disclose this to me I was shocked. Rue and I had already been through so much. Her rehabilitations had been going great and now this! My debt has already increased with my own uncovered medical expenses. Sometimes it feels like there is no catching a break! Thanks to wonderful, caring people like you, people like me and dogs like Rue can get help and feel relief from the physical and emotional pain that the world can cause. Thank you for being you! Many blessing to you, your family and friends.
