Frankie’s Friends Hope Fund helped Nyla receive the emergency surgery she needed for eye enucleation at BluePearl in Oklahoma City. This is a note from her family.
“This letter was hard to write.
Words can’t describe the gratitude we have for what you do. One of our family members suffered a car accident tragedy. It was a hit and run and that memory still plays in my head. It was a moment where time stood and all I saw was my cat bleeding and trouble breathing. She took a very big hit to the head. This happened around 5 am, BluePearl emergency was our only hope. They told me she could possibly lose an eye from the blood clot she developed. That hit me hard, sunk my heart, shattered it to a million pieces. How do you choose for a family member to lose an eye to save her? I sat in my car crying for hours. I applied to credit check and got denied. I sat there thinking, “If I can’t pay for her medical services she dies“. It is unfair to think that if you can’t afford treatment you will get denied. Animals are just as much like people . People do not get denied for not being able to pay. I called 10+ hospitals around my city, to which NONE took payment plans or wanted to work with me. It’s sad to think because we are living in a crisis, I could of lost my pet because someone decided to speed and run her over. We were at rock bottom about to decide to pull the plug because we have no money. Frankies friends saved us. They gave us hope. They offered a light, an option to save out little kitten. She was adopted when we moved to Oklahoma. They say animals from shelters you are saving but , she saved us actually. She is the sweetest kitten and made moving states be worth the stay.
I applaud everything you do and giving us an OPTION to those of us that can’t afford a pet emergency. I love what you do and would hate to be in a situation where I couldn’t save my pet due to insufficient funds.
Here she is my Nyla , the vet said she’s one lucky cat being able to survive such trauma. But I think it’s because her guardian angels from Frankie’s Friends saved her. Thank you so much ! I will definitely pay it forward when we become stable again. I don’t know what we would do without her.”
