Frankie’s Friends National Fund helped service dog in training Drake to receive the surgery he needed for a fracture on his femur. This is a note from Drake’s family.
“In December of 2019, I was carjacked and robbed at gunpoint. This event left me with PTSD. For a year, I was lost and barely managing my symptoms. In Novemver of 2020, my cousin’s dog had puppies. She offered me one for free to raise and train as a Service Dog.
It was 11 long weeks before I could bring him home but his arrival sparked something inside of me that I thought had been extinguished for good. Drake is now 6 months old and officially beginning his training.
This surgery has devastated both of us. He no longer can perform his duties that he has been training for properly. I no longer have the security and comfort of my companion. However, the surgeon is confident that he will be able to return to his duties 100% once he is fully healed.
Your donations will have given me my life back along with my best friend. I thank you for your support from the bottom of my heart.”
