Frankie’s Friends Hope Fund helped Royal receive Gastroduodenal Portosystemic Shunt and Unilateral Cryptorchid surgery at BluePearl in Philadelphia PA. This is a note from Royal’s family.

UPDATE

Thank you so much for helping us out with Royals surgery ! Today marks 3 weeks since his surgery and he is doing great. Royal was diagnosed with having a liver shunt problem when he was around 13 weeks (September 2021) he showed signs of confusion, seizures, vomiting, and running into walls. When I first found out how much the surgery was going to cost I knew I couldn’t afford it and wasn’t going to be able to help him. With the help of everyone over at Frankie’s Friends, Royal was able to receive his surgery ! He is recovering extremely well, he’s back to normal activity, playing with his brother. He still takes medication and has a follow up blood work appointment coming up soon to see if we can wean him off of the medication slowly. I even noticed a little weight gain for royal which is great because prior to the surgery it was hard for him to keep weight. Thank you guys for helping us !

Receiving financial assistance is a great honor for Royal and I. Seeing him in this condition, suffering for the past few months has been extremely hard. Royal has been taking at-home medications to help alleviate his symptoms, however, receiving surgery would be the most beneficial for him. Royal is a very loving puppy, when he is feeling well enough, he is full of energy and loves to run around the house and play with his brother Koda. Receiving help from Frankie’s friends will help him feel like this all of the time and not just on his “good” days. Having support from Frankie’s Friends is truly a blessing. I have been trying to help Royal in every way possible that I can, he received bloodwork, ultrasound, a cat scan IV medication and at-home medication but still needs surgery. Thank you Frankie’s Friends for helping Royal and I during this difficult time and thank you to the donors who help make this possible.
