Frankie’s Friends Hope Fund in Rockville Maryland helped Eve receive life saving surgery for an obstruction between the stomach and the intestine preventing the passage of food. This is a note from her family.
“I am a single mother of 3 children ages 17, 13 and 11 and the mother of my girl Eve. We would like to thank Frankie’s Friends for the financial assistance they provided us in these difficult times we spent with my little girl Eve.
Eve is a two year old Boston Terrier, the light of my house, my spoiled pup. She is my company all day. April 28 of this year was her second birthday and she had to be taken to the emergency room for having been vomiting since the previous day. She was prescribed an ultrasound due to the signs and symptoms that she was presenting, which cost $550.00. I paid with the money destined to rent my apartment because I didn’t have any more money to pay for emergency needs.
When talking to the doctor, I was told that if the diagnosis was positive, Eve would have to undergo a surgery which was too expensive and, of course, could not be carried out because I do not have that amount of money. If she did not have this surgery, she would have to be sacrificed.
When she called me to give me the results, the world came over me since they were positive, Eve had an obstruction between the stomach and the intestine, which was causing the intestine to corrugate and at the same time preventing the passage of food. What a sadness, I cried when I received the news because I knew that the next step was to sacrifice my spoiled pup.
Dr. De La Torre told me about you and helped me apply for assistance for the surgery. That brought my soul back to my body and I was so happy to know that people who don’t even know me could help this cause. That makes you have faith in humanity again and totally changes our lives.
Today, we celebrate the birthday of my Little Princess Eve and my Princess Shoshanah (13) and we could not be happier and more grateful to God and you, Frankie’s Friends, because our Eve is pain free and is a healthy and happy dog again. God bless you and prosper you.”
