Frankie’s Friends Hope fund helped Bennett receive the lifesaving treated he needed at BluePearl in Richmond VA for toxin ingestion. This is a note from Bennett’s family.

While visiting family over the holidays in Virginia, our 8-month old puppy Bennett, ingested a piece of mulch that had mold on it. The mold, which has mycotoxins, caused his body to go into a state of paralysis. He suffered from muscle spasms, seizures, and was unable to walk. He was admitted to BluePearl Veterinary Center where he was treated with muscle relaxants and seizure medications. The wonderful veterinarians at BluePearl were able to keep him stable, but the medication that he needed to treat the mycotoxins was very costly —an expense that as newlyweds, my husband and I could not afford. My husband and I were heartbroken when we had to weigh our options—to put Bennett down or to financially suffer while trying to save his life. That’s when an angel, by the name of Kyrstyn from the finance department at BluePearl, called to say that she had requested and received approval for a full scholarship from Frankie’s Friends to pay for the cost of Bennett’s medication. We were ecstatic! After receiving the medication, Bennett made a full recovery and was functioning back to normal within a day. Frankie’s Friends saved Bennett’s life! We truly cannot thank them enough for giving Bennett the opportunity to enjoy a long and happy life. I look forward to donating back to this wonderful organization to save another pet’s life!
