Frankie’s Friends Hope Fund helped Togo receive the lifesaving surgery he needed for a ruptured hernia at BluePearl in Stone Oak, TX. This is an update from Togo’s family.

Togo has had a journey. When he was born he had an umbilical hernia. That of course got us worried and besides that he was the runt of the litter. He was so tiny but his hernia just kept growing. I’ve called vets and they said we would have to wait until he is 6 months old. Despite his condition he was a puppy who always had so much energy and such an amazing personality. He loved playing with the other pups and loved to run. Suddenly I got the call from my mother that the hernia had ruptured and my heart immediately dropped. I rushed to the house and you can tell he was in pain and was so weak.  I quickly called several hospitals and they referred me to the BluePearl hospital.

When I got him to get looked at at the pet Hospital they informed us of the cost of the surgery. We knew we couldn’t afford it and went to another hospital hoping they could give us another option. But sadly that hospital said the same and gave us the other option to put him to sleep. I remember how the doctor told us he was in a lot of pain and needed to make the decision. It was hard to say he needed to be put asleep but we had no other choice. As the nurse was coming back with paperwork to be signed, I received a call from Dr Palermo from BluePearl Hospital. She said that if it’s not too late they might have found someone who can help pay for the surgery. I immediately rushed back and so relieved I didn’t have to say good bye to our 6 week old puppy! He had his surgery and the very next day, he was already full of light and joy. He currently had his sutures removed and doing so well. My family and I have no words to describe how happy we are to have Togo here with us. Thank you all for everything it really means so much!
