Frankie’s Friends helped Ellis receive lifesaving surgery for several mass removals at BluePearl in Overland Park. This is a note from his family.

Ellis was given to my mom when he was pretty young. She has had him for at least 10 years. He is at least 12 years old, a golden retriever, Labrador mix. Close to 6 years ago (maybe a little longer) Ellis developed his first fatty tumor. My mom took him to hope road veterinary in Amarillo Texas, where they decided to just watch and monitor the tumor and reevaluate if it got bigger. Five years ago my mom suffered a major stroke and lost most function in her left side and made her totally dependent on care takers. Her husband was her caretaker until March of this year, 2021. Over the course of those 5 years he developed multiple tumors and the original tumor grew to be atleast basketball size. These fatty tumors were on his abdomen x2 (his largest 2) under his shoulder, in his mouth, and one on his snout (was ulcerated and bleeding any time he barely bumped it on anything). Her husband didn’t care for Ellis and the tumors made him getting around and his daily life a rough one. In March of this year, Ellis, my mom, and her cat Juliet came to live with me. My mom didn’t want this move but wasn’t left with many options so this move from Amarillo Texas to here in Salina Kansas has been extremely rough on her. Ellis has been by her side since she got him and even more so after her stroke. Getting his surgery wasn’t an option, it was a must. Without Frankie’s Friends it would have taken a lot longer to get everything in place for Ellis to have his surgery. Possibly might not have even happened without y’all’s help… Since the surgery Ellis is such a happy energetic dog! He runs around and plays, he is doing so much better! We are extremely grateful for the help of Frankie’s Friends for all the help in getting Ellis his surgery and helping him have a much better quality of life! I have included pictures of before and after his surgery. He’s such a good boy!
