Frankie’s Friends Hope Fund helped Zelda receive lifesaving surgery for an obstruction at BluePearl in Des Moines IA. This is a note from Zelda’s family.

Zelda, my cat, is doing so much better!

We are forever indebted to Frankie’s Friends and Blue Pearl Animal Hospital. Without the assistance of Frankie’s Friends, I would not have been able to afford surgery for Zelda.

Zelda is the sweetest girl. I rescued her when she was a few months old. I was only 18 when I rescued her and lived on my own for the first time. Zelda has been with me through 5 moves, the most recent from Flordia to Iowa. She is around nine years old and so important to me. We are incredibly attached, especially since she only socialized with me for the first few years of her life.

When Zelda got sick, I thought I was going to lose her. She ate string pulled out of an old quilt– leading her to have foreign body surgery.

After a few months, Zelda is almost fully recovered. She is still growing some hair back at the incision site, but back to normal.

Here are some photos of her incision site right after surgery. The later photos are of Zelda with her brother, Vincent, comforting her and Zelda lounging.

Thank you so much for the help and support. As a graduate student, my income is minimal. The funding from Frankie’s Friends saved my Zelda.
